“Today in St. Petersburg, the city of bridges, we are building a new bridge between Russia and Europe”
Carlo Giaquinto

The beautiful setting of St. Petersburg, Russia played host to the REACH Kick-off Meeting on 11-12 February 2019. Over 40 consortium partners gathered at the Hotel Indigo for the launch of this new European Union funded project under the Horizon 2020 programme. Coordinated by Penta, this important 2-year project will focus on the global health response to the epidemics of HIV, HCV and TB in pregnant women, children and adolescents in the Russian Federation and the broader European region.

REACH builds on the long-standing, successful collaboration between European clinical research networks, with track records of delivering innovative research across these three infections with leading collaborators from the Russian Federation. The launch of this project marks the beginning of an exciting new alliance between Russian and European partners. With this meeting we have laid down the groundwork for the next 2 years, and not only. REACH promises to serve as a springboard to creating a more robust platform for future EU-RF collaborations in these paediatric research areas, and within the H2020 research landscape in general.

Thank you to all participants for an engaging two days together, and we look forward to what promises to be a fruitful collaboration!
